The internet: you're on it right now.

While that fact might not be mind-blowing, the various things that Canadians get up to online might surprise you.

What are Canucks spending our money on when we shop online? Exactly how much time do we spend binging shows on Netflix? (Editors note: Do yourself a favour and stream Bojack Horseman immediately)

The folks over at the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), the people in charge of administering the .CA domain name, released the results of their comprehensive study on the behaviour of Canadians on the internet. We've done the work of sifting through the report to bring you the most interesting and, perhaps, life-affirming facts. Let's dive right in.

We Still Like Facebook

That whole "delete Facebook" movement hasn't really taken hold here in Canada. In fact, Facebook is still the most popular social media platform - by far. Check it out:

We REALLY Like Shopping Online

Now, I'm not the best at math, but 86% seems high. And that's the number of Canadians who have made an online purchase in the past 12 months alone.

Furthermore, only 59% of Canadians prefer making purchases at traditional brick and mortar stores. You might be thinking to yourself, "That percentage is still pretty good." Well, consider that this is down from the 66% of Canadians who said, in 2016, that they preferred to do this.

Seems like bringing your store online is a wise choice. Not convinced? Well....

We Want to Support Canadian Businesses

Canadians want to support fellow Canadians. It's just science. Or, more accurately, it's statistics:

And the following is presented without comment:
